The UNESCO World Heritage site Geirangerfjord is a marvel of nature with its deep blue waters, dramatic cliffs, and cascading waterfalls. This iconic Norwegian fjord offers breathtaking viewpoints, scenic hikes, and unforgettable encounters with pristine landscapes.

Dalsnibba skywalk: Geiranger’s iconic viewpoint

Perched 1,500 meters above sea level, the Dalsnibba skywalk offers Europe’s highest fjord view accessible by road. The road to this remarkable viewpoint, completed in 1939, is a testament to Norwegian engineering. From here, you can take in stunning vistas of the Geirangerfjord and its surrounding snow-capped peaks while breathing in the crisp mountain air.

Flydalsjuvet: a gorge with a spectacular view

Standing 330 meters above the spectacular Geirangerfjord, Flydalsjuvet offers unforgettable views and incredible photo opportunities. The viewpoint is connected by a charming gangway between two scenic plateaus. Here, you can also visit the famous “Fjordsetet” installation, inaugurated by Queen Sonja, to honour Norway’s breathtaking landscapes.

The Eagle Bend: a magnificent view point

Since 1954, the Eagle Road has been a year-round route to Geiranger. Its 11 dramatic hairpin bends reach 620 meters (2,000 feet) above the fjord. The Eagle Bend viewpoint, located 515 metres (1,550 feet) above sea level, offers panoramic views of the Geiranger Fjord and the iconic Seven Sisters Waterfall.

Storsæterfossen: Hike behind the waterfall

Just 4 km from the centre of Geiranger, the Westerås farm marks the start of an unforgettable adventure. The family-owned farm is home to friendly llamas, goats, and sheep and is the gateway to the trail leading to Storsæterfossen waterfall. The hike, along a beautifully crafted stone path built by Sherpas from Nepal, takes you to a scenic plateau 540 metres above sea level, where you can literally walk behind the waterfall’s mighty cascade. Remember good hiking shoes!

The Norwegian Fjord Centre: Gateway to Geirangerfjord

The Norwegian Fjord Centre is the official visitor centre for the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord. Its architecture mirrors the fjord’s arrowhead shape and offers interactive exhibits on the area’s history, geology, and wildlife. Visitors can also step into traditional dwellings, enjoy a stunning four-season film, and explore a café, children’s activity room, and shop featuring sustainable products – an ideal introduction to the wonders of Geirangerfjord.
